LLLT applied immediately prior to injury had positive effects during the muscle regeneration process. Therefore, this resource may have considerable therapeutic value, especially for athletes who practice sports in which there is a constant risk of muscle injury.
OPEN FILEPBMT significantly increased the time of staying in the pitch and a significant improvement in all the biochemical markers evaluated. No statistically significant difference was found for the distance covered. Pre-exercise PBMT can enhance performance and accelerate recovery of high-level futsal players.
OPEN FILEAthletes’ perceived fatigue was also assessed through a questionnaire. Photobiomodulation therapy significantly (p # 0.05) improved the average time of sprints and fatigue index in BST. Photobiomodulation therapy significantly decreased percentage of change in blood lactate levels (p # 0.05) and perceived fatigue (p # 0.05). Pre-exercise PBMT with the combination of superpulsed laser (low-level laser), red LEDs, and infrared LEDs can enhance performance and accelerate recovery of highlevel rugby players in field test. This opens a new avenue for wide use of PBMT in real clinical practice in sports settings.
OPEN FILELow-level laser was the only modality for which there was moderate evidence supporting its use for all 4 conditions. The findings of this literature review may help inform practitioners who use conservative methods (eg, doctors of chiropractic, physical therapists, and other manual therapists) regarding the levels of evidence for modalities used for common shoulder conditions.
OPEN FILEOur results demonstrate that cryotherapy in combination with LLLT can produce an anti-inflammatory ‘‘add-on’’ effect. The order of therapy administration seems essential, as superior histology and biomechanical results were found in the cryotherapy first/LLLT group.
OPEN FILEThe results of this study demonstrate that improved peak vertical force could be related to the preoperative use of LLLT for dogs undergoing TPLO at eight weeks postoperatively. The use of LLLT may improve postoperative return to function following canine osteotomies and its use is recommended.
OPEN FILEThe laser protocol used in this study was associated with a greater improvement in ACOI gait in dogs treated with TPLO but did not improve any other clinical metrology instrument scores or bone healing. This study provides some evidence that LLLT may improve the gait of dogs recovering from a TPLO, as assessed by owners.
OPEN FILELow intensity laser therapy was effective in the improvement of collagen fibers organization of the calcaneous tendon after undergoing a partial lesion.
OPEN FILEAnalysis of the results showed a better qualitative and quantitative healing process in traumatized muscles treated with Ga-Al-As diode laser therapy than in spontaneously healed ones.
